Each program offers three decent meals per day (served "family style") with a salad bar or PB&J's for anyone who's personal preference isn't what they serve that day.
Nice camp property with huge lake.
There are outdoor (unclean) porta-poty style bathrooms with urinals and unheated showers for the kids. These contained no stalls/locks nor shower curtains. They had a terrible stinge of urine and seemed quite primitive. They explained they had to do this to ensure the reserved inside bathrooms remain clean- which is understandable- but an upgrade to make the outdoor stalls more functional would be rather comforting.
The Dinning Hall as well as the Trading Post and Medical Center are air conditioned. There are clean indoor bathrooms inside both the Dinning Hall (basement and dinning area) and Medical Center available to the adults. There are clean heated showers inside the Medical Center and on the outskirts of the Dining Hall available to the adults as well.
Several points of interest are the nature trails, lake, and the "Gaga-ball" pit in which many scouts appeared to have enjoyed.
There are no problems with mosquitos, but there is an issue with ticks- there are very many ticks; take heavy bug repellant. There were also reports of snakes, one tarantula, and tick nests which was rather unsettling.
I really loved it at QSR, and the aquatics are amazing. Go there if you can.
The Summer Camp program was good, but we left with many 3/4 way completed badges which left us with quite a bit of homework that could carry on for several months after the camp. An advantage to the program is the ***allowance of bikes (with helmets)*** to get to classes more efficiently. There are long distances- bring the bike- don't miss out.
Overall it's good, but a few upgrades would make it thoroughly exceptional.
Excellent area to get back to nature.
Great place to camp.
We were also led to a location for Chapel, and being that they were short on outdoor maintainers we had to sit through waist high grass in a tick prone area.
The programs were good. The staff (especially the 2017 NYLT staff) was exceedingly friendly, helpful and devoted to make sure what needed to get done was completed.
This is an okay place for camping- I attended twice: the NYLT program and the Summer Camp program. Both were very interesting to attend as a scout.
